Arthur served in the army for WW1, he signed up 09 Sep 1914, Service no. 159699, The 7th Royal Fusiliers, Royal Battalion. He was posted to France 09 Feb 1916 and returned injured in the field. His unit was walking along Delville Rd in france, he received concussion from an explosion on may 6th 1916. He was returned to a field hospital and then back to england 01 Oct 1916. He was reclassified for light work, sent to the Ministry of Munitions, at the Hotel Cecil, London WC and then discharged a full Lance Corporal on 12 Feb 1919. (His service record was over 100 pages long).
Before his service he lived at 59 new north road hackney, after at 13 east bank hackney.
