Narrative
Baptised at Sherborne, Dorset:
METHODIST BAPTISMS 1785 - 1799 & 1819 - 1837
Sherborne Wesleyan Circuit baptisms, 1785-1799,
"A Register of the Children baptized at Sherborne (Dorset) and elsewhere by Geo HARVEY, Protestant Dissenting Minister and others."
William later became a well known but inferior stage actor. He took the stage name of Billy Wyatt. He signed his marriage Banns as Wm Wyatt. He was known to be the leading player at the London Royalty Theatre, Wells St, Whitechapel, which was a notorious Sailors Theatre well known for ribald behaviour and unsavoury subject matter. In 1826, it was destroyed by a Fire. William reportedly perished in the fire, along with several others, much to the grief of his pious father, the Rev John Hyatt, who was on his final sick-bed at the time he heard the news.
