(The two original diaries cover the periods 10 July 1877-23 October 1881 and 17 April 1916-27 September 1919. The diaries are an account of Newbury's activities - teaching, attending prayer meetings, watching football games and visiting friends. Includes biographical notes on Newbury's wife Jessie and their sons. Also a colour photocopy of a bookmark found in the 1877-1881 diary. It was given to Samuel Newbury on 27 February 1880. The transcripts of the diaries were prepared in 2002 by Dorothy Ambrose, granddaughter of Samuel Newbury. There are two photographs, one of St. Paul's School on the corner of Flinders Lane and Swanston Street (on the site of St. Paul's Cathedral) taken by Charles Nettleton ca. 1877. The second photograph is of some pupils of Newbury's taken by Bardwell ca. 1885.)
